About the Race

The North Face Endurance Challenge is the Bay Area’s premier trail racing event. Set in the stunning Marin Headlands just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, the course features technical singletrack, serious elevation gain, and jaw-dropping Pacific Ocean views.

Course Highlights

• Start and finish at Rodeo Beach
• Run along coastal cliffs with ocean views

• The marathon and 50-mile courses include the brutal SCA Trail climb

Who It’s For

This race spans the gamut from casual 5K runners to serious ultramarathon athletes. The 5K and 10K are great introductions to trail racing. The half marathon is a proper trail challenge. The marathon and 50-miler are for experienced trail runners with hill training under their belts.

Race Tips

• Train on trails — road fitness alone won’t prepare you for the terrain
• Bring trekking poles if you’re running the marathon or 50-miler
• The Marin Headlands can be cold, foggy, and windy — dress in layers
• Arrive early — parking at Rodeo Beach is limited and shuttle buses fill up
